Alisha Nicks West, PharmD, BCPP, is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Pharmacist at The Menninger Clinic in Houston. She is passionate about helping create safe, supportive spaces that reduce stigma surrounding mental health and substance use disorders.
Dr. West earned her Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy. She completed an ASHP-accredited PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency at the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi, followed by an ASHP-accredited PGY-2 psychiatric pharmacy residency at the VA North Texas Health Care System in Dallas. Before joining Menninger, she served as a Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner within the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program at VA North Texas Health Care System, where she specialized in mental health and substance use disorders.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. West has contributed to research, presentations, and community education focused on psychiatric medications, opioid use disorder treatment, overdose education, and reducing mental health stigma. She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Psychiatric Pharmacists.
Outside of work, Dr. West enjoys traveling, exploring Houston restaurants, and spending time with family and friends.
