The Menninger Clinic, Baylor College of Medicine and the Institute for Spirituality and Health invite mental health professionals, clergy and religious professionals to participate in Tending to the Human Spirit in the Time of COVID-19 on November 13 in order to better assist our communities who have been affected by the pandemic.
The coronavirus pandemic is causing psychological, emotional, and spiritual issues that individuals have to deal with while shuttered in their homes, often alone, and socially distanced from family, friends and co-workers. These problems compound the burden for those who already suffer from mental illness – anxiety, depression and suicidal ideation escalate.
The magnitude of these problems reveal a gap in the training of psychotherapy and mental health professionals, as well as clergy who are often the first to see a client in distress.
