Beenish Syed, MD, is a child and adolescent psychiatrist on the Adolescent Treatment Program.
She is a member of several professional associations, including the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Psychiatric Association, the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, the Houston Psychiatric Society and the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
Dr. Syed has served on the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry's Consumer Issues Committee and has had research published in the Journal of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
She earned her undergraduate and medical degrees from Saba University School of Medicine. Dr. Syed completed Baylor College of Medicine's child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship. She also completed the psychiatry residency training programs at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and the University of Texas Health Science Center/McGovern School of Medicine.
A native English speaker, she is fluent in Urdu and Hindi.
In her spare time, Dr. Syed enjoys running, reading, following international politics, music, hiking and traveling.
