There are times when an adolescent with mental illness becomes acutely ill and needs immediate care. If your teen is experiencing an acute episode, we can help.
Menninger offers a short-term stabilization service for adolescents ages 12 through 17 that takes place on our Adolescent Treatment Program. A sample patient room is pictured at right.
Most patients stay in the hospital for five to 10 days.
The clinical team, which includes a psychiatrist, social worker and nurses, provides for the safety of the patient and coordinates assessment and treatment with the parents or guardian.
When possible, patients participate in academic tutoring in addition to psychoeducational groups that will help them get ready to return home or pursue step-down treatment.
