Chaired by Stacy and Michael Ellington, Menninger’s 12th Annual Signature Luncheon will be held May 6, 2021, and features a conversation with former U.S. congressman Patrick Kennedy. Limited seats are available. A virtual attendance option also will be offered.
Mr. Kennedy, who is the son of late Senator Ted Kennedy, was the lead author of the landmark Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (Federal Parity Law), which requires insurers to cover treatment for mental health and substance use disorders no more restrictively than treatment for illnesses of the body, such as diabetes and cancer. In 2013, he founded The Kennedy Forum, a nonprofit that unites advocates, business leaders and government agencies to advance evidence-based policies and practices in mental health and addiction.
Each year, the luncheon brings together the Greater Houston community to increase awareness of mental health issues and raise crucial funding for The Clinic’s mission. Contributions provide critical funding for the Menninger Annual Fund, including The Clinic’s top priorities in mental health treatment, research, training and outreach.
