A forensic psychiatrist, Edward Poa, MD, oversees the Forensic and Special Consultations Service at Menninger. He is also an associate professor in the Menninger Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Poa's previous roles at Menninger include chief of Inpatient Services, director of Admissions and medical director of Menninger's
Compass Program for Young Adults. He has also been an outpatient and consult-liaison psychiatrist at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston.
Dr. Poa completed a fellowship in forensic psychiatry at University Hospitals/Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, and residency training at Baylor College of Medicine and the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry in Topeka, Kansas. He earned his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School and his bachelor's degree from Northwestern University.
He is a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a member of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law, the American Medical Association and the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians.
