Now a psychologist on the Hope Program for Adults, Dr. O’Malley is the former long-time director of the Compass Program for Young Adults at Menninger. He has served in a variety of positions since he joined Menninger 37 years ago. 

His professional interests include gender issues, psychiatric issues related to emerging adults, mentalization-based therapy and trauma.

Dr. O’Malley is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Society for the Study of Emerging Adults and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health.

An associate professor at Baylor College of Medicine, he obtained his doctorate and bachelor’s degrees from the University of New Mexico. He completed postdoctoral training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, and an internship at University Hospitals of Cleveland in Ohio.
