Mental health professionals are invited to join The Menninger Clinic for Feminist Psychology: Why It Matters Today More Than Ever, a free webinar that will be presented March 4 by Shweta Kapoor, MD, PhD, of Mayo Clinic.

During this educational event, Dr. Kapoor will highlight the historical perspective on the evolution of psychiatry that considered males as the norm and link it to the present and future of feminism in psychotherapeutic work.
Feminist theory as a psychotherapeutic approach addresses unique stressors that impact women's mental health. The therapeutic relationship becomes a vehicle of change and connection that helps women understand the prevalent sociocultural environments. It empowers them to make positive changes leading to improved outcomes for women and society in general.
Participants will learn about the significant role of social structure and gender in psychotherapy and about applying principles of feminist theory in addressing gender-related disparities in clinical work.
