Grace’s story did not end when she left treatment at Menninger. In many ways, it was just the beginning of a life shaped by purpose, connection, and a growing commitment to helping others heal.
Since sharing her story, Grace has continued building a life grounded in meaning, carrying forward the progress she began during her time at Menninger. In December 2025, she graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Human Development and Family Sciences with a 4.0 GPA.
Today, Grace works full time as a Residential Counselor at a mental health residential treatment center, where she supports individuals navigating obsessive-compulsive disorder and related conditions. She works alongside patients during exposure and response prevention (ERP) exercises, helping encourage and support them through some of the most challenging moments of treatment. Just a few months after joining the team, Grace was promoted to Shift Lead, helping to welcome and guide new patients at the very beginning of their healing journey.
For Grace, this work is deeply personal. Drawing from her own lived experience, she is building a career in mental healthcare recently accepted into the University of Houston’s Master of Social Work program this fall. Outside of school, Grace is involved in community-based mental health advocacy, crediting much of her continued growth to the foundation she built during treatment at Menninger.
Today, Grace describes her life as one filled with meaningful relationships, a strong support system, and a renewed sense of purpose. Her journey reflects the lasting impact of compassionate, individualized mental healthcare and the possibilities that can unfold when someone is given the tools, support, and hope needed to move forward.
